Unfair Automatic Billing
I signed up for HeyGen for a one-time project only, yet I was charged repeatedly for months without any further use or authorization. Calling this “automatic renewal” feels more like unauthorized billing. When I asked for a refund, the company repeatedly compared their service to Netflix or Spotify. That comparison is misleading, those platforms provide continuous access to a library of content, while HeyGen charges users even when there is no use at all. This creates frustration and mistrust, as seen in multiple customer complaints. I strongly suggest the company review this policy if they want to build long-term trust with users. -------------- Update (Response to HeyGen’s reply): -------------- Thank you for your response. Unfortunately, this doesn’t address the real issue. My concern isn’t simply about “canceling in time,” but about the misleading setup where a one-time project automatically turns into a recurring monthly charge without clear consent or reminders. Also, comparing HeyGen to Netflix or Spotify is not accurate. Netflix offers unlimited access to content during the subscription period, while HeyGen limits users to just 5 minutes of video creation per month and even charges extra if you exceed that. It’s not a subscription for ongoing access, but a usage-based tool that continues charging even when unused. Your marketing may be polished, but your billing practices tell a very different story. Transparency and explicit consent should not be optional they’re the foundation of customer trust. View More
Deceptive and misleading
Deceptive and misleading The creative plan for $29 a month lists: "Unlimited videos Videos up to 30-mins" But the avatar videos are maximum 1 minute! Putting videos up to 30 minutes is very deceptive because it doesn't apply to avatar videos. If you want anything longer than 1 minute (only 3 minutes max) you have to use "Avatar IV" and you only have 10 minutes a month included. View More
Terrible Support and Buggy App
I spent two full days working on a project, only to have the render get stuck at 97% for hours. When I reached out to support, instead of giving me a real solution, they told me to reload the page or delete and re-upload assets one by one. Basically, they expect me to redo all the work I already invested because their platform can’t handle basic rendering. That’s not a solution—that’s pushing the problem back to the customer. Support didn’t even seem to read my messages carefully. The result is wasted time, frustration, and zero reliability for professional use. If you’re serious about your projects, don’t trust this app. The service is unstable, the support is unhelpful, and the time you lose waiting for stuck renders is not worth it. View More

Misleading plan limits
Misleading plan limits — not transparent at all I purchased the HeyGen Team Plan and was extremely disappointed to learn after paying that it only includes 600 seconds (10 minutes) of Avatar IV generation per month. This limitation is not mentioned anywhere on the pricing page or during checkout. The only place it’s explained is buried deep inside the Help Center — something most users would never find before subscribing: How dynamic/non-dynamic limits work at HeyGen HeyGen Avatar IV complete guide When I contacted support, they confirmed the limitation and admitted that this information isn’t clearly shown on the pricing page. They even said users have to “check the Help Center” to understand what they’re actually buying — which is unreasonable for a core feature of the platform. In my opinion, this is a misleading business practice. Customers shouldn’t need to dig through hidden documentation to find out that the main advertised feature has such a small monthly limit. I’m sharing this so that others don’t make the same mistake — be careful before purchasing and make sure you fully understand what’s included. Transparency matters, and HeyGen needs to fix how they communicate plan limits. View More
Poor Transparency, Bugs, and Lackluster Support
I’ve been trying to complete the same video for hours due to persistent rendering issues. Even after redoing a file (at the platform’s request because the first had a bug), the new version had the same problems: Text justification shifts incorrectly once rendered Images and text run off the slide despite careful alignment This is not an isolated glitch but a core stability issue. Support has been disappointing. The most common response I’ve received is along the lines of “that must be frustrating,” with little to no actual troubleshooting or meaningful resolution. On top of that, the platform lacks basic usability features: No automatic adjustment when changing aspect ratios, forcing tedious re-editing Credit usage is not transparent within the editing workflow. You have to go to a separate page to see consumption, unlike other platforms that notify creators in real-time. I was reimbursed credits after complaining, but they were quickly exhausted because I had to repeatedly test failed video renders. At the end of the day, I’ve spent time, effort, and credits—yet I still don’t have a usable finished product. This combination of technical instability, opaque credit usage, and weak customer support makes the platform frustrating and unreliable for professional use. View More
WORST CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE EVER!!
WORST CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE EVER!!! STAY AWAY FROM IT, THEY STOLE MY MONEY
Be careful before taking the HeyGen…
Be careful before taking the HeyGen subscription. If you take it when you see "unlimited videos," it's a lie. Once I've paid and I start translating my videos, I see a "limit reach, upgrade plans" message. I ask the support why, and they tell me that it's only 120 minutes of video translated per month. So it's not unlimited. Yet, before payment, no place talks about the 120-minute-per-month limit. It's just a trap. Too bad, because heygen AI is really the best way to translate a video, it's sad that this AI is being run by scammers. View More
This is a scam
This is a scam in my opninion .. the very least misleading advertisement .. It says you can generate unlimited videos but as soon you translate 2 Videos you are run out of credits .. it was to be unlimited but they added some backdoor shit with credits VERY SHADY View More
Misleading and disappointing — Stay away from HeyGen!
I subscribed to HeyGen because they advertised “unlimited videos and minutes”, which made me believe I could freely create content every month. But after paying $79/month, I was shocked to find out that “unlimited” actually means only 10 minutes of usage per month — yes, just ten minutes! This is completely misleading marketing. They hide the real limitation until after you subscribe, and their pricing page makes it sound like you’re getting full freedom to create. In reality, the usage cap is so small that you can barely make one proper video before you’re forced to pay more. When I reached out for clarification, their support didn’t take any responsibility and just repeated the same vague explanations about “fair use” and “AI generation limits.” Honestly, this feels like a bait-and-switch tactic — using the word “unlimited” just to attract buyers, then limiting you right after you pay. Very disappointing experience. If you’re serious about creating AI avatar videos, there are other tools out there that are much more transparent and worth your money. Don’t fall for HeyGen’s misleading “unlimited” promise — it’s simply not true. View More
Poor customer support
I've been using HeyGen for around 6 months and was happy with it. Then it stopped working and said I was on the free tier. I've been messaging for weeks to sort it. Incognito mode, cleared cookies etc. When I message them, I get through to an AI agent. Really hard to know if a human is actually involved. It could be great, but customer experience isn't good. I'm been paying for a service I cant use, impossible to resolve it..... I'd try some of the others. I am happy to share one of the 20+ emails I received that kept looping around the same issue. Heygen apparently tried to resolve this multiple times, so any assurance on Trustpilot of trying to do it again sounds a bit hollow. Firstly, it lost my account and put me on the free tier, despite me paying. Then it lost all the projects I'd spent days working on. I had to work incognito, clean out cookies etc, but the problem appears to be their end with no commitment to fix it. I reiterate, poor customer service. View More
Save Your Budget: Explore Other AI Video Tools
I subscribed to a paid plan with Hygen.com, and it has been a major disappointment. The platform is still under development, full of bugs, and we’re basically paying for a beta version. The results are often terrible — lip-sync and hand movements are inaccurate, avatars look stiff and unrealistic. Even their interface is unstable: one time the video plays with audio, the next time it doesn’t. When you create a video and add graphic elements, everything looks fine in the preview, but in the final render some elements disappear or are out of place. Even with their so-called “Avatar 4” technology, which is supposed to produce better results, the video duration is absurdly limited to 10 minutes per month. So if you want to make a series of 5 videos, you’ll have to wait 5 months — even with a paid subscription! Customer support is completely useless. Their only response is “regenerate the video to see if it changes,” which means waiting another few hours for equally disappointing results. Worse yet, support doesn’t even have access to your videos, so they can’t help or troubleshoot anything. Their online events are also very amateurish and add no value whatsoever. In conclusion: don’t pay for a beta version. It’s Hygen who should be paying us to test their unfinished product, not the other way around. --------- Edit of 1 November 2025. If I could, I would give negative stars, but you can't go lower than 1. The situation with HeyGen is becoming increasingly catastrophic. I strongly discourage anyone from using their platform or wasting money on a company that clearly doesn't care at all about its customers. The chat support is completely useless—it's staffed by apprentices who keep repeating the same things over and over, and the problem never gets escalated properly. Despite multiple attempts, no competent intervention has been offered. They ignore the core issues and refuse to acknowledge bugs with their platform. I subscribed to a paid plan and have experienced serious malfunctions that make the tool unusable for professional work. Their customer service response is scripted and unhelpful, leaving paying customers frustrated and ignored. This ongoing neglect is unacceptable from a service provider, especially one charging subscription fees. Despite having a paid subscription, new features like Avatar 4 are limited to only 10 minutes of video generation per month. How do you expect anyone to create a training video with just 10 minutes of generation time monthly? You make one video, and if after the first viewing you want to improve it, you have to wait an entire month. At this pace, producing multiple training videos would take over a year, even with a paid subscription. This severely limits any professional or educational use of the platform and is frankly unacceptable. --------- Edit of 6 November 2025. For the past two days, the site has been constantly freezing. When I open your website in the browser, the CPU uses 100% of its resources. I tested it on both Windows and macOS, using several browsers, using severals internet connection (even fiber 10 GB) and the problem persists in all cases. View More
Huge waste of money. Everything is unnatural, glitchy, weird and can't be used.
I spent hundereds of dollars and haven't been able to create not ONE SINGLE 60 second video that I can use for my business. Every one I make has weird unnatural glitches, no matter what method I use to create and they have a bunch. Then, they give you credits for everything and you're using them when you don't realize it and then they're suddenly gone and you can't create anymore. The whole experience is just one big TEST that fails over and over again. Customer service eventually said to me, "we can't control what the ai does." Well, that's VERY obvious. I've spent hours and HOURS trying to create something useful from this website to finally get my money's worth and it never ever works. It's so sad and frustrating. All I can do is keep trying, it's been months now and nothing is useable. The only upside is that customer service is pretty helpful, but they can't help you make a good Avatar video. That's a hope and pray situation. View More
THIS IS A SCAM
THIS IS A SCAM They promise unlimited videos on their pricing page, but THEY DO NOT HAVE UNLIMITED VIDEOS. They tell you that unlimited videos are from another model (that model doesn't exist or doesn't work). Their customer service stops responding because they have no solutions. View More
The Truth About Heygen: Don’t Get Misled by the Hype
I recently tried Heygen’s Creator Plan because it promised unlimited video creation. But after making just a few videos, I got a message saying I’d used up my 20 minutes of monthly credit — which was never clearly explained upfront. That was my first disappointment. Then came the technical issues. The lip-sync was often off, the avatars looked unnatural and robotic, and sometimes the editing tools didn’t respond properly — like setting text exit points. I really wanted this platform to work, but for me, it didn’t deliver what was advertised. If you’re considering using Heygen, I recommend testing it carefully before subscribing long-term. View More
Pricing Plan is not transparent
I just signed up as paid subscriber plan just 2 days ago and felt there could be more transparency and clarity in the pricing plan which are not specifically mentioned at all. I just conversed to Sam from HeyGen over email and provided my honest feedback on this. Users need to know what they are receiving in the plan before signing up. There are monthly allowances and additional generative credits details which are not specifically mentioned in anywhere of the pricing plan. Please check with support first and clarified the pricing plan details if it meet your expectations before you know what you will be signing up for. Just an advice. Thanks! View More
THIS IS A SCAM SCAM SCAM
I fell for the "UNLIMITED VIDEOS" promise. It's a complete lie. Let me be crystal clear. UNLIMITED is actually 10 pathetic minutes a month. TEN. They hide this until after they take your money. It's a bait and switch, and they know exactly what they are doing. This isn't misleading marketing its an outright SCAM. And even if you wanted to use your 10 minutes the product is total garbage. I made a video and after 20 seconds the voice I picked just changed. It turned into a completely different robot voice. The lip sync is even worse its a total joke the mouth moves whenever it wants. You cant use the final video for anything. Its unusable. This company is a SCAM. They are stealing money with a broken product and false advertising. Dont even think about it. Just run. View More
Misleading commercial practice
The website displays ‘unlimited translations and videos’ for the Creator plan, but at NO point do they show that you’re only entitled to 120 minutes of translation. I almost got tricked, THANKFULLY I used ChatGPT, which had to analyze their site pages to find this information buried in an obscure section. This is a MISLEADING COMMERCIAL PRACTICE! View More
If I could give a Zero(0) star
If I could give a Zero(0) star. I would, these people are the most deceiving people EVER. If you purchase after this its on you and if HeyGen tries to LIE and say they have no record of me I will bring every receipt I have. They are liars and deceivers. They promote unlimited avatars on their Plan page for $29 and $39 monthly. They promote videos looking so real you can't tell the difference from real or fake which makes you think this is what your getting once you pull out your credit card. NO this is not.... So once you pay them you find out they have Avatar III and Avatar VI, Avatar VI is the videos they promote to make you think you'll be able to make unlimited videos that look like their promotional videos. When actually its unlimited for Avatar III, Avatar III is so garbage and robotic, no movement at all just the mouth and eyes, actually looks demonic more than anything. So they don't tell you anything about Avatar III and Avatar VI on their plan page, this is very deceptive and then they only give you 10 minutes of Avatar VI which is actually 5 minutes because if you do a 30 second video using Avatar VI its 2x's so it costs 1 minute, if you use 10 seconds its 20 seconds, but here where it gets worse. It seems they round it off, so its like 20 seconds ends up 30 seconds anyway on a 10 second video. Go elsewhere or you will regret your decision if you read this. DO NOT BUY HEYGEN...... Edit: RESPONSE TO REPLY: Your just trying to save your reputation, I've already reached out to you multiple times before I ever created this review. Your answer was always excuses for your lies. Look at your trustpilot reviews(the real ones). Everyone is saying the same thing. You are a deceiving company and thats just the truth. Luckily I'm not going to the FTC with this. What you are doing is false advertisement. Nothing else to say. I hope you get shutdown for what your doing to people. Just be honest. Customers don't find out your true agenda until you already deceived them into purchasing, then they find out its limited and only 10 minutes. Your not going to get this past anyone else if I can help it. On top of that I have over 400k subscribers on YouTube so this will be my next topic. You'll either learn from this or burn from it but you know in your heart its wrong to lie like this. No excuses. View More
I’ve been using HeyGen for about two…
I’ve been using HeyGen for about two months, and what a waste of time and money. The Avatar III option was unusable because the teeth were weird (the rolled), the head movements were unnatural, and the overall quality was already sad and subpar. I settled for unlimited because I was at least able to make around 50 to 75 videos with one avatar that barely worked. Then HeyGen pushed an update, and the product is now a disaster. The new avatars look completely fake. The faces are distorted, the eyes are rolling around like something is seriously wrong, the hands are twitching all over the place. The result looks disturbing, not professional. Anyone using these videos for business should be embarrassed. Their support team is just as bad. Instead of helping, they blame the customer. I dealt with John and especially AJ. AJ is rude and useless. When you report problems, they talk to you like it’s your fault their software is broken. They refuse to take any responsibility and basically gaslight you, acting like you’re the problem. I’ve stopped responding to AJ altogether because it’s pointless. HeyGen took a weak product and somehow made it even worse. Their customer service is defensive and unhelpful. If you want a company that cares about its customers or puts out a product that actually works, look elsewhere. HeyGen is not it. I regret spending my money here. Avoid at all costs. View More
