Great Car Rental Company
We rented a car from GoCarRental for 11 days when we were in Iceland. We were absolutely delighted with our whole experience, the initial online check-in, customer support, and picking up and returning the car at Keflavik airport was super easy. We selected the Platinum insurance, which we would recommend. Our car was in excellent condition. All instructions were super easy to follow, and they made several website recommendations regarding driving in Iceland. We found parking in Reykjavik easy using the parka.is app. View More

Great self service pickup
Great self service pickup, got the right vehicle in the middle of the night in 30 seconds. When dropping of the car there was no free parking spots, but placed the car in second position and dropped the key. Then I just notified Go and jumped my plane. They replied with, great we will fix it! That os how you run a car rental business! View More

Renting a car with ease
Easy booking process via website. Online check-in before arrival which allowed for self-service pickup. Also return to KEF airport was via self-service, without any hassle. Any questions asked via email were rapidly responded to with to the point responses. Car was in good condition, and within specs of what we rented and expectations. With the amount of Gravel roads in Island, I’d definitely recommend the additional insurance. View More

Self-service option was excellent, booking process was very easy, including check-in process prior to arrival. Return to KEF airport via self-service was also an easy process. Car we received was exactly as we requested and was in good condition on receipt. Poor service. Poor attention to details.
The service is not as prompt as it should be. The attention to detail is not their strenght point: - I booked a new edition car and got a car with more than 110.000 km - in my package, I had the wifi connection included, but it was not equipped with the mobile router and when we realized it was missing, we were too far from the office to get back and complain. Fortunately, we are from within the EU (roaming was free) - I didn't receive the self-check-in code before my flight departure, so I didn't know what to do exactly until I landed (in the mid of the night with my family). I rang 6 or 7 times before being able to speak to a person to understand how I should act. - The car was not completely and thoroughly clean at the pickup (it was only grossly cleaned) View More
Easy, fast, cheap and good
Really easy, really fast, cheaper than others and really good. The key pickup lockers are easy to use and saves a lot of time! Finding the locker was not easy though. We got the car we expected and enjoyed it during all the stay in Iceland. One note for travellers, if you don't pay some parking ticket (and it's easy to forget), it will be charged afterwards with an extra 30€ fine and I didn't find any warnings in the Go Car Rental webpage (maybe it's there and I didn't see it) View More

Great service - great price
Great local company to do business with. Go rental booking was easy to do and to manage. They emailed out really useful advice and links to apps that proved essential on our trip around Iceland. The car was clean and performed flawlessly on some challenging terrains. We had a minor issue with self-service, but the company stepped up, admitted the problem, and worked to resolve which is really all you can ask for. Would recommend. View More
Went out of their way to make amends
Initially we were not happy with the service: we couldn't find the assemblypoint for Go Car and Green Motion at the airport, we got another car than the one we reserved and the navigation system didn't work properly, but I have to say: they went out of their way to make amends. And they certainly exceeded our expectations in that! View More
Go Car Rental is an excellent company…
Go Car Rental is an excellent company for renting vehicles. The whole procedure was very simple. There is a pick-up option where you don't have to wait in line to pick up your car. We drove a Dacia Duster, which is great and very comfortable. The prices are fair, and the level of mutual trust is incredible. Everything is clearly explained in the emails you receive, including the location and the way to pick up the vehicle. 5 out of 5 rating! I will definitely rent a car from them again. The only recommendation would be to inform people on the flyer about the fuel policy at the gas stations, just to make things easier. Thank you! View More
Flat Tire, Illegal Tread, Police Called — Go Car Rental Iceland Failed UsOur experience with Go Car Rental…
Our experience with Go Car Rental Iceland was both dangerous and frustrating. After just a few hours and 180 miles on regular roads, we got a flat tire. The garage we visited showed us clear evidence that the tire tread was dangerously thin and below the legal limit, due to long-standing alignment issues. This was a serious safety issue that could have ended badly. When we returned to the office to report the issue, the front desk staff were unhelpful and evasive. Instead of letting us speak to a manager, they delayed us — and then called the police. Fortunately, once the police saw the tire and photos, they agreed with us. It took nearly a month and 12 emails to get reimbursed our out-of-pocket costs . During that time, Go Car Rental repeatedly ignored our follow-ups. In total, we lost 9+ hours of vacation trying to fix a problem that should never have happened. Other issues: *Long wait at pick-up *Misleading insurance upsells *Poor customer service *No proper vehicle checks Even if they have good cars in their fleet, the one we got was unsafe. Would you take that risk with your life or time? We won’t be renting from them again. View More
Some problems but with solutions
Review Edited after contact with customer service : I had booked the self check in option to save time, but I didn’t receive any code or instructions when I arrived. After contacting customer service, they quickly arranged a solution and told me to go directly to the agency. I had to take a taxi, which was reimbursed to make the process smoother. The first car (Suzuki Jimny) had a steering issue, with the wheel turned left while driving straight, The staff tested the car, confirmed the problem, and arranged a replacement without delay. However, the second car had worn and smooth tires, which felt dangerous on Icelandic roads. I informed them about this, and the technical team has since been made aware and corrective measures were taken. As for the check out, it was smooth and the shuttle was on time for the airport. hidden fee and charges shocker!
you'll be in for shocker when and after you return your car! there will be many hidden charges and also.... first of all, car maintenance - you can't assume it is tip top. we encountered gear fault and brakes and accelerator can't work. second, there are charges on top of rental which, only you can find out after you return your car. third, they will claim the fuel was not topped up fully (even i had done so) and claim from you after 3 weeks in email. thank gawd i have receipt to back my claim. and I used the petrol kiosk 1-2 km away from their office. it sure doesn't warranty 60 over euros top up! final verdict is - avoid this scam rental club at all cost! use the common reputable one would be a much ideal choice! This was not a good experience for us…
This was not a good experience for us at all. We paid for the upgraded package that included extra options including priority pickup. When we arrived, we walked to the pickup area which is across couple parking lots. When we got there, our car was not there. I had to calla couple of times to be able to try to figure out what what the issue, but they really didn't know. They said they would send a shuttle to pick us up. After waiting about 45 minutes with no shuttle, I called and the stated that the guy was still coming. I told them I left my wife and kids at the airport and really did not want to stand out here hoping the shuttle would come. They said I could go back to the airport and they would send it there. After walking back, gathering our stuff and walking to a "not so defined" pickup area, we waited 45 minutes for a shuttle to show. The bad news is that shuttle was full, and the next shuttle was full and could only take one more person and the rest would have to wait for another shuttle. I went so that I could get the car process started and hopefully it would be ready before my family got on the next shuttle. I got to the main location and waited another hour to get to speak with a person at the counter. After a bunch of discussion and research, apparently they were having an issue with their Credit Card machine days prior to my arrival, so they never were able to run my credit card, therefore the car was not ready, nor at the easy pickup location. After discussion, they said that I was still getting charged full. They were not even going to do a partial credit even though one of the major advantages of buying that plan was the easy pickup. There is no customer service here, what is done is done, they have little to no interest in making it right. All in, I think I think this was a 3+ hour ordeal, when it was supposed to be easy, and I paid for it. We missed our first excursion and had to reschedule. Just prepare yourself. I understand things happen, but they never notified me that there was an issue before my arrival, and then the experience after arrival and discovery of the issue was not good. View More
